Meaningful Reporting

An Intensive on Reporting with Steven Screen
Build Your Reporting Tools that Keep Donors Giving Year After Year

The organizations that keep their donors giving year after year do one thing very well.

They regularly share a special kind of story with their donor – a Before + After story.  This story helps them raise more money and build the kind of trust that turns a $50 donor into a monthly donor, a major donor or a legacy donor over time.

The Before + After story is at the heart of a Report – a dedicated piece of donor communications (a letter, email, or conversation) that shows your donor her gift made a real, specific difference.

A Report isn’t a bunch of statistics or summaries of an organization’s work.  It’s not a laundry list of organizational accomplishments.  And it’s definitely not a success story buried inside an appeal.

Meaningful Reporting makes your donor see and feel that her gift mattered.

The problem isn't that fundraisers don't care about Reporting. It's that no one ever showed them how to do it well.

What happens when you don't Report:

Your donors gave in faith.  And when they don't know if their gift made a difference, they drift away.  Not because they're mad.  Because they never found out if their gift mattered.

Meanwhile, the organizations that are Reporting well have donors that stick around longer and give more often.

This intensive will help you build the kind of Meaningful Reporting that keeps your donors giving.

Two hours of small group coaching with Steven Screen

This isn't a webinar where you take notes and figure it out later.  This is two hours of small-group coaching with Steven Screen with the sole purpose of helping you figure out how to create the kinds of Reports that keep your donors engaged and giving.

And you can bring a colleague – up to 2 people per organization can attend!

INTENSIVE AGENDA:

1

Finding Your Before + After Stories

We'll start with the hardest part: finding and developing your Before + After stories.  This kind of story is at the heart of your Reporting, and most fundraisers have never been taught where to find them or how to write them.

Steven will help you figure out where stories live in your organization, who to talk to, and what questions to ask.  He'll show you how to turn raw information – the kind of vague, half-formed stuff you get from program staff – into a Before + After story that makes your donor feel something.

Whether you arrive with a story that needs sharpening or no story at all, Steven will help you develop something you can use.

2

Where to tell these stories (and how to tell them)

Once you have stories (or know how to find them), Steven will show you exactly where and how to tell them.

You'll go deep on the two most powerful Reporting formats Steven creates for his clients: the 2-page Donor Reporting Letter and the 4-page printed newsletter.

Steven will walk through real examples from his swipe file – so you can see what great Reporting looks like and understand exactly why it works.  You'll learn what goes in each paragraph of a Donor Reporting Letter, how to write newsletter headlines, and why photo captions do more heavy lifting than you think.

3

Reporting to your Major Donors

Finally, Steven will show you how to use your Reporting pieces to engage your major donors (who are more important than ever).  You'll get a Reporting cover letter template you can customize to make your Reporting feel personal – even when you're pressed for time.

And there’ll be plenty of time for Q&A and coaching – bring your specific challenges and Steven will help you figure out your next step.

HERE'S THE INVESTMENT

 Your investment: $500

If your organization is losing donors because they never found out their gift made a difference – and most organizations are – this intensive will pay for itself many times over.
One donor who sticks around and gives again because you showed her that her gift mattered?  That's your money's worth.

But the real value is bigger than one donor.  You're building a Reporting skill set you'll use for years.  The stories you learn to find, the formats you learn to write, the process you develop for your major donors – that's a permanent upgrade to how your organization communicates with donors.

You get customized help for YOUR organization – not one-size-fits-all advice.  To provide that level of support, Steven is capping this intensive at no more than 15 organizations.

Register now before the Intensive fills up.

The Online Intensive happens Tuesday, April 14th from 3:00 - 5:00 PM ET.
