How We Help You
Here’s our proven process for working with a nonprofit to increase the amount of money they raise every year...
Step 1
We get a download of your programs, activities and the outcomes your organization creates. We also review your current fundraising and fundraising calendar.

Step 2
We look at your organization and its previous fundraising, then brainstorm potential offers that could be used in our work with you. We review and refine those offers with you to select the offers that are most likely to succeed.
Step 3
Based on your previous annual plan, plus our offer development work, we propose a calendar for the next 12 months. As always, we work with you to ensure the proposed plan will work for you.
Step 4
Because most organizations have pent-up giving, our first project is often an appeal letter or e-appeal that asks donors to give a gift. This brings in revenue immediately and begins testing the new messaging.
Step 5
Future projects include printed newsletters, donor reports, and “e-stories” that share one story of success in an email. All of these show your donors that their gifts to you make a meaningful difference – which increases the chance that they will give again!

We review your Thanking processes to ensure your procedures and messages are effective.

Step 7
We review the results of each piece of fundraising and use them to improve future fundraising. We teach our approach the whole time so that your organization learns this valuable skill.
Step 8
There’s always a question to be answered about an upcoming event, or how to set up a major donor management system, or how to raise undesignated funds. So we’re available to you full-time to help you through any situation.

PEOPLE
Your main contact person will be your Fundraising Advisor. S/he will manage all aspects of our work with you, and you’ll will always receive a response from them within 24 hours. You can of course ask questions of Better Fundraising’s co-founders (Jim & Steven) at any time but please always include your Fundraising Advisor.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Better Fundraising will Project Manage all of our work for you. We’ll create production schedules, make sure all of the dates work for you and your team, and will manage every step. The organizations we serve LOVE not having to do this any more!
PRODUCTION SCHEDULES
We will create an annual fundraising calendar with you, and for each project we will have a detailed production schedule based on the agreed upon mailing dates. You will have the chance to review and approve all schedules.
PROCESS
Each project will follow roughly the same process: Kickoff meeting, Creative brief, copywriting, design, mailing select, print production. You will have the opportunity to review and speak into every step. We will often be working on two or more projects for you at the same time, especially towards the end of the year. In addition, we’ll have regular monthly meetings to cover anything that comes up.
PERFORMANCE
To get the most of your fundraising, you will need to track the performance of each fundraising impact and provide us with the results. We’ll review them with you, ensuring that we’re all learning what approaches work best for your donors, which leads quickly to raising more money.
